On becoming Unreasonable: Scaling impact with LIVIN farms through Unreasonable Impact UK

Becoming an Unreasonable venture is more than a milestone for us, it’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and where we’re heading. It acknowledges the urgency of the challenges we’re addressing and affirms the bold and at times unconventional path we’ve chosen to tackle them.

We’re proud to announce our participation in the Unreasonable Impact UK & Europe 2025 program, an initiative by Unreasonable and Barclays designed to support high-growth ventures solving global challenges through scalable innovation. As a recognized innovator in the insect farming space, this marks a significant step forward in our mission to reshape global feed systems.

Founded by Katharina Unger, LIVIN farms is pioneering a circular approach to agriculture by empowering farmers, agribusinesses, and local communities to convert organic by-products into high-value insect-based protein, fats, and fertilizer. Our decentralized, tech-enabled solutions help reduce food waste, lower emissions, and create a more resilient local supply of alternative protein, positioning insect farming as a practical, scalable solution to the challenges faced by modern feed systems.

Joining the Unreasonable Impact 2025 cohort gives LIVIN farms access to a global network of visionary entrepreneurs, strategic investors and experienced mentors. For Katharina and our team, it’s a unique opportunity to refine our strategy, accelerate our innovation pipeline and expand our impact through collaboration and shared insight.

With six active projects across Europe, multiple patents and advanced automation technologies, LIVIN farms is well positioned to lead the global growth of insect-based feed solutions. The program is already providing fresh perspectives and practical tools to support our expansion into new markets, while reinforcing our role in the future of sustainable agriculture.

As part of the program, our Founder & CEO has gained valuable insights through collaboration with fellow entrepreneurs, hands-on mentorship and direct engagement with investors. The experience has helped sharpen our direction, spark new approaches to innovation and broaden our view of long-term growth and impact.

Becoming part of Unreasonable Impact aligns with our core belief: that solving complex challenges requires bold thinking, cross-sector collaboration, and systems-level change. We’re honored to join this global community of ventures building a more sustainable, resource-efficient future and excited to bring our vision for circular insect farming and innovation to a global reality.
