In April, we proudly received third place in the Research & Development in SMEs category at the Houska Prize, Austria’s leading private research award presented by the B&C-Gruppe. This recognition places LIVIN farms among Austria’s top innovators driving applied research with real-world impact.
Out of 52 competitive submissions, only 15 projects advanced to the final shortlist after a rigorous two-phase evaluation by a top-tier advisory board and international expert jury. This recognition highlights the growing importance of circular economy solutions and decentralized insect farming technology for organic waste valorization and alternative protein feed production.
At LIVIN farms, we empower local farmers and agri-businesses by providing technology that integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure, such as biogas plants and local farming operations, to convert organic byproducts into valuable outputs. This enables efficient resource recovery, strengthens regional supply chains, and helps close nutrient loops often lost in traditional linear systems.
The award validates a critical shift in the agri-tech sector, where insect farming is increasingly recognized as a viable solution to convert organic byproducts into valuable products, including high-quality protein for animal feed and nutrient-rich frass. This milestone reflects a broader move away from linear, waste-intensive systems toward regenerative and circular bioeconomy models that create local value and reduce environmental impact.
We are proud to contribute to this growing momentum within insect farming innovation and organic resource management, demonstrating how decentralized, circular technologies are shaping the future of sustainable agriculture and bioresource valorization.
A big shoutout to the entire our team, your commitment and hard work make it happen!
